NewsNews / Bad luck in Tarifa! After my arrival from the PKRA in Canada it was not even 24 hours before I was back on the plane to Tarifa, Spain. This is going to be the 8th PKRA World cup of this year. I arrived to late for the inscription so I arranged I could do that the next day.The next morning I woke up and I noticed that I was not really fit. After breakfast it was just getting worst so I hoped a bit of fresh air would do me good. When I arrived on the beach and register they just finished the skippers meeting and there going to run the trials first. When they where running the trials I got a good opportunity to test my new kites I just received before me departure. After 1 hour of testing on the water I was really happy about my new kites and felt a bit better. They finished for today and I decided to go to bed early and hope to be better tomorrow. After a warm night of sleep I woke up the next morning and I was sick. I had a fever and more. When we arrived on the event side they told us that the wind was really strong again and that we are going to start with the competition. I was in the third heat and I was surprised because I started off pretty good but then in my second jump I got some equipment problems and I had to swim back to the beach. As soon as I arrived on the beach my heat was done and I lost. Bad Luck…. The next day we where lucky with the wind and we had the strong Levante coming in again. Unfortunately for me but for the event it’s nice that we can kite every day. After pumping up my kites I was just in time for my heat and I was riding good and advancing two heats in a row. After that they stopped for today and I had one more day to recover. I was happy. The next day I was against Reno Romeu from Brazil. I was still sick, a bit better but weak because I didn’t eat at all since 3 days already. I started off good and I did some good tricks the only problem was that I wasn’t able to land anything. I just didn’t had the power and Reno is a really good rider so it’s not easy to beat him and I just couldn’t do enough and I lost. Nice job Reno! Now I’m just waiting here and try to recover as fast as possible. After that I go to Brazil and I hope to be able to train a bit before the competition will start. Greetings! Randy | |
