ResultsResults / World Cup: Belgium - Freestyle & Best TrickLocation: Knokke-Heist Position: #4 (Freestyle) and #2 (Best Trick) Update 1:A short update from the PKRA here in Belgium. The first day was really extreme. The wind was up to 50 knots and super gusty. The started with the first 4 heats. Bas was the first one and he was against Mallory the la Vilamarque. The level was different, there where just high jumps because of the strong wind. It was really close but at the last seconds Mallory pushed out a flat 3 and he won! I was in the next heat against Rondino (Italy). I didn’t really know the rider, I only saw him riding in Italy and there he was ripping. I started with a lame Indy Glide and then a lame Railey. After the railey I tried to edge for a big jump but my board cached water and lost my board and started flying. It was not going so good so I really needed to recover. I grabbed my board again and came in with a nice grabed indy glide into grabbed backroll into transition. Then I made an huge frontroll with a kiteloop. I made a lot of small and high tricks but the best trick was the dubble kiteloop!!! I never did it before but I came so high that I thought lets pull a double! Today a new day and we will see wat I bring. I’m up against Alvaro, a ripping rider. I have to give everything to win from this guy but I’m going to do my best!! Update 2: After my lost against Alvaro Onieva (Best) in the Single Eliminations I ended up as number 23. I still had a chance if I could come back in the Double Eliminations. The end of the day the wind picked up again and the conditions looked suitable so they started the doubles. My first heat was against my friend Janek Korycki (Naish). I had a nice and constant heat but Janek was ripping with super high jumps over 15 meters and nice kiteloops. It was close but I won. Then I was out against Maciek Kozerski (Naish), also from Poland. I was going good with nice big kiteloops, full over powerd on my seven. I advanced. Then I went out against Phillipe Bruckman (Carved). This is a new guy and a really good friend and he is ripping. I was already so tired from my previous heats and I didn’t landed a lot but I was able to do big jumps, kiteloops, a blind judge, a frontmobe and a 3-1-3. I didn’t landed everything as clean as normal but I advanced and I was so happy, I was 7th for sure!! This was the last heat of the day and tomorrow we continue. After a good night of sleeping we where standing stand ready since 12 a clock, midday. At 7 a clock in de afternoon!! They started the heats. I was out against Reno Romeu (North). This guy is ripping and I was a little nervous to go against him. But I just did my thing and was able to make some nice air passes, the wind was picking up even more and that was in my advantage. I won! Sick! Now I’m against Rui Meira (Naish). We started both going to the inside and I started with a front mobe and straight after my landing a Back Mobe. I was really close behind Rui and Rui didn’t looked when he turned so we got tangled. Rui his lines where twisted and he wasn’t able to kite. First I thought I was disqualified but the judges couldn’t see how was wrong. Cause I shouldn’t have jumped so close behind him and he should have looked before he made a transition. After 10 minutes they started the heat again and I was on fire. I did everything I could and I won! Now it’s my chance, I can make it up from the doubles. I’m against Alvaro Onieva (Best) and the wind is picking up again. I still had my 9m2 and was full over powerd and Alvaro was riding with 7m2. I was having so much fun out there and I was landing everything. One handle pass after another and big kiteloops…. The last move I did, I did it especially for Olaf. I did a nice no footer with a double downloop (the double was a excident). When I came back I got applause from the audience and it was sick! I advanced! I advanced!!!!!!!!! Yihoe!!!!!! Now it was my turn the go out against Aaron Hadlow. I started off really nice and I think I made him a little scared. In the first 3/4 minutes I did a front mobe, back mobe (switch), KGB, 3-1-3, Blind Judge, Back Mobe, Slim Chance and some big kiteloops. Then after those 4 minutes I was dead from walking and performing so I couldn’t do so much anymore and I needed to put my kite high… I lost but still I was really happy! I’m 4th now and it’s the best result untill now! My thanks go out to the guys from the Extreme Team (www.extremesports.nl), Willem Willems and Bas Koole! These guys where making sure I got my right lycra, got the best kite possible and they where a big big support!! Thanks guys! After the main event they started with the seconde discipline, Best Trick. I was going good and made a nice front mobe to blind, really clean. The wind was so light that I had to ride my 14m2. I came seconde and that makes my week complete! I’m so happy and I’m going to enjoy my results.... Freestyle: 1. Aaron Hadlow 2. Kevin Langeree 3. Etienne Lhote 4. Randy Hereman 13. Bas Koole Best Trick: 1. Aaron Hadlow 2. Randy Hereman 3. Kevin Langeree And with the girls our own Jalou Langeree did a nice job and came second! Girls: 1. Kristin Boese 2. Jalou Langeree 3. Angela Peral 7. Katja Roose Here are some nice quote’s from the PKRA/Caribbean Winds website: “Meanwhile Randy Hereman (F-One, Netherlands) had an awesome heat, advancing, seemingly used to the conditions. He pulled one of the sickest tricks of the day: a huge kite loop right with a gust, ripping down wind and sticking the landing, as well as an awesome double kiteloop, his first in competition.” “And finally, the award for “No Fear” and the man on fire for the day goes to Randy Hereman (F-One, Netherlands). Randy has been having an awesome event so far, going for his regular technical moves such as various mobes, kiteloops and 3-1-3’s, playing of the waves and using the gusts to his advantage. Some of his crashes have been as spectacular as his successful moves. It is not surprising that most of the riders who are doing well at this event so far are from northern Europe and used to training in the North Sea, or similar extreme conditions.” “Randy must have had a few “Go Fasts,” his sponsor energy drink, before getting on the water again because he was unstoppable. The fire continued from yesterday, as he burned through the next two heats beating both Rui and Alvaro Onieva (Best, Spain) before running out of steam against Aaron Hadlow (Flexifoil, UK). Randy wowed the crowd, really going for it with powerful, huge air tricks, including a handle pass front mobe with a double kiteloop that seemed to keep him aloft forever. He was still riding strong against Aaron and the heat was close but Hadlow advanced nailing a sick double front to blind, an S1 and his signature kiteloop handlepass with the kite parallel to the water. The judges felt his moves were a bit more technical with the kite positioned lower which is scored higher. “ | |
