Nieuws / Knie update

Monday 10th of December. After a 12 hour, non stop sleep, I woke up. That was really nice and relaxing. At 14.30 I went to the physiotherapist to check up with my knee. He told me I was to active. I did to much exercises and needed to walk less on my leg when I walk. This is because I need to let my knee rest more and get rid of the liquid and let it cool down. It’s really warm now.

Tuesday and Wednesday, 11th and 12th of December. I rested a lot and I can feel it straight. I lift my knee with a little pillow under it and I can really feel the difference. My knee rested a lot. Tomorrow I’ve got fysio again so we will see if it got a little better.

Thursday, December 13th. At midday I visited the physio and the told me it looks a lot better already. I took out the bandages ass well. The physio did some exercise with me and that felt really good.

Friday, December 14th. I had a meeting with Bergman Clinic. They checked how my knee was doing and I got to do some exercises again. I arrived and got straight on the CPM. This is the machine that moves your leg. Bending and extensions where doing really good and they told me my knee was doing good as well. I also got to do some exercise on a home trainer (bike). I need to put my leg on the home trainer and move it down and back up (not the whole round). Last but not least they took out 1 of my stitches. In total I’ve got two.

Monday, December 17th. After a good weekend, and again a lot of resting, my knee is feeling a lot better. My fysio was surprised and he did some bending and stretching with me. I also got to do easy bicycle every day 2 times 20 minutes.

Thursday, December 20th. I’m writing just the important things. I went to the physio again and he was pretty positive. I got to do real bicycle for 15 minutes and some sets of leg press with 5kg of weight to bring back the tension into my muscles. My left leg lost a lot of muscles since the operation and lost all it’s tension (at least that’s how it feels). By doing these exercises I can train this a little. I’m also able to walk without my crunches but I’m not allowed to this yet, and so I won’t.

Friday, December 21st. Another day of physiotherapy. This time, 20 minutes of cycling and again the same leg press exercise.  All went well. I also walked more and for small walks I use just 2 crunches.

Thursday, December 27th. Since my last visit at the fysio I’ve been there another 4 times. Every day I’m doing cycling on a home trainer I’ve got at home. Now I’m doing 10 km in almost 22 minutes. My knee is feeling better everyday and I’m waling trough the house without crunches and my knee seems to react good on everything. It doesn’t get bigger (inflamed). I’m able to bend and stretch really well and I hope to be able to drive my car again soon. Tomorrow again physiotherapy…

Friday, January 4th. Today it’s already one month ago I had my operation. Recovery is doing well as you can read and I got the same feeling. I’m driving my car again and I’m walking most of times without crunches. Everyday I’m training and doing physiotherapy.

Today it’s 6 weeks ago. I feel my knee a lot less but when I do to much I get really tired. I took a week of rest and went to Hossegor, France to visit my girlfriend for a week. I will train here 2 or 3 times this week. To stay in good shape and to give my knee some exercise.
